Meet In The Street


34th Annual Meet in the Street

10 am – 4 pm – Taylor Street & Brooks Street

The 34th Annual Meet in the Street® festival will take place Saturday, May 3, in historic downtown Wake Forest.

Presented by the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce, Meet in the Street offers a day filled with food, fun and entertainment, including live music and children’s activities.

This year our festival will include dozens of artisans’ booths featuring handcrafted arts and crafts along South Taylor Street and South Brooks Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and South White Street from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., where an entertainment stage and beer garden will also be provided.

Admission to Meet in the Street is free. :)

Volunteer Help Descriptions

 

Parking:

1.  Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary Stephens Mackie Hall Parking Lot (Corner of Durham Road/NC 98 & S. Main Street)- Parking is available all day for the event.  Walk down Durham Road/NC 98 past the round about.  At the light take a right on Roosevelt.  Head under the rail road tracks and take a right on White Street.  Head toward the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce (350 S. White Street) to access the event.

2.  Bob Johnson Lot (527 S White St, Wake Forest, NC 27587)-Parking is available all day for guests.  Walk down White Street toward Wake Forest Chamber (350 S. White Street) to access the event.

3.  Across from Wake Forest Post Office (224 E Holding Ave, Wake Forest, NC 27587)-Park along Holding Avenue throughout the day.  Take Holding Avenue to White Street and head toward Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce (350 S. White Street) to access the event.

4.  Wake Forest Farmer’s Market Parking Lot (150 N White St, Wake Forest, NC 27587)-Open after 12 p.m. the day of the event.  Walk down White Street toward Wake Forest Chamber (350 S. White Street) to access the event.

Come out to the Performance Plaza presented by WakeMed on Brooks Street.  Starting at 10 a.m. and going until 4 p.m. local performers will entertain the audience with martial art performances, cheerleading routines, drama and choir routines.  Also, come and watch professional circus performers Cirque De Vol provide partner acrobatics, hoop jams, and juggling routines.  Watch the local Kerr YMCA get your heart going with one of their famous YMCA aerobic classes.  Finally, enjoy local jugglers Flow Circus provide a comical and interactive juggling experience.  While watching these great performances don’t forget to visit many of our food vendors that will be located on Brooks Street.

The 2014 Music Stage presented by White Street Brewing Company will provide entertainment for all ages.  Come early to see local high school students perform with Rock Academy to begin the day.  Sing along to your favorite Beatles tune as Liverpool of the Carolinas takes you back to the sixties.  Get your dance shoes on as the crowd favorite East Coast Rhythm & Blues performs beach music, rock & roll other danceable songs.   Enjoy the afternoon sun as David Dixon Acoustic performs songs from Smoky Robinson to John Legend.  Finish the festival with local Wake Forest band The Will McBride group who will perform jazz infused rock, funk, and blues music.
