Join us on Saturday, May 2, from 10 am – 5 pm, in Downtown Wake Forest for Meet in the Street! Meet in the Street is a full day of art, food and music. South Taylor Street, South Brooks Street, and South White Street are blocked off so festival goers can enjoy nearly 200 artisans’ booths featuring handcrafted arts and crafts. All types of arts and crafts vendors will be featured, including wood working, handmade jewelry, handmade soaps, ceramics, signs, pottery, handmade kids clothing and much more.
A live music stage will be set up at the corner of White and Owen Streets. There will also be a Performance Plaza provided by WakeMed in front of Town Hall on Brooks Street where local choirs, martial art groups, cheer groups, and more will perform throughout the day. At 12 noon in the Performance Plaza there will be a Bluegrass Performance Stomp that provides an interactive, family friendly bluegrass musical performance that covers the history of bluegrass.
Other exciting features of the event include a Beer Garden provided by White Street Brewing Company located on White Street; an interactive trailer provided by Coca-Cola and Carolina Parent Magazine on Brooks Street; the Carolina Hurricanes Storm Squad on Taylor Street; and a Children’s Village provided by The Goddard School of Wake Forest on Taylor Street with activities including inflatables, face painting, kid craft activities, spin art, and a mobile gaming theater.
The Town of Wake Forest will provide a bicycle safety fair on Brooks Street, and the Wake Forest Fire Department will host a new obstacle course, smoke house and fire truck to tour on Taylor Street. At 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., the Wake Forest Fire Department will put on a special presentation. This will also be held on Taylor Street.
Admission to Meet in the Street is free. Vendor booth spaces are no longer available. Anyone wishing to have a booth space will be put on a waiting list. Questions? Contact Corey Hutcherson via email or at (919) 229-8506.
