Teacher Grants Program
The Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce supports our local schools through a Teacher Grants Program. All public schools in the Wake Forest area are eligible.
The Chamber’s Education Task Force works with the Trentini Foundation in selecting grant recipients. Teachers need to only fill out one grant application to be considered for either grant.

In 2007, The Trentini Foundation awarded six grants, totaling almost $10,000. The Chamber awarded seven grants, totaling nearly $6000.

The Chamber’s grant money is raised through its Annual Spelling Bee, held in the Fall.

Annual Spelling Bee
This isn't the Spelling Bee you remember from grade school - this Bee is for adults!

Here's how it works: The moderator calls out a word and each team of 4 writes it down. The team captain chooses the best spelling. Even if the team spells the word incorrectly, they can buy their way back in the competition for $25 - or convince someone in the audience to pay for them!

Most importantly, all the money raised from this event goes into our local schools in the form of teacher grants.  Businesses or organizations can enter their own team, or sponsor a team of teachers.
